Living In The PastOpis:An unconventional best-of collection at the time of its 1972 release, Living in the Past existed to gain a greater foothold in America for Jethro Tull following the breakthrough success of Aqualung. And it did, by offering a little something for everyone. There are a number of songs that became FM radio staples, ranging from the heavy rock of "Teacher" and "Hymn 43" to lighter fare, such as the title tune. A pair of jam-heavy selections, "By Kind Permission Of" and "Dharma for One" (featuring the era's requisite in-concert drum solo), were recorded live at Carnegie Hall.
